Adaptation Part B: Edo Style Studies

As mentioned in this post, I'm looking at the types of kimonos in the Edo Period. I did some quick drawings of the furisode, kosode and the burial kimono.

I also looked into the tied up hairstyles from both the working class and samurai class.

Adaptation Part B: Watercolour Practise

For this project, I want to give a traditional feel to my 3D character and I decided that I wanted to do all my textures by hand.
I've never used watercolours before or own any so I went out and bought myself a set so I could practise with. These are quite messy and I have a lot more practising to do, but I wanted to give myself feel for what I need to be doing for my textures later on.

CG Artists Toolkit Drawing: Still Life 4

This weeks set up:

Again this week I used dyes and coloured asatate, but painted out the background with black acrylic. Overall I'm happy with the "cosmic" feel of the piece.

I mainly focused on the cones in general, using mixed media consisting of dye, pastels, asatate and newspaper

CG Artists Toolkit Animation: Zoetrope animation test

Here's my test all done, which I'm very happy with. This is my first time animating a character so it was a lot of fun. There's a few in between frames I need to tweak after discussing it with Meg. Overall I think it was a decent first attempt!

CG Artists Toolkit Drawing: Still Life 2

Worked from this structure. I quickly sketched out the basic shape and then moved onto using the paint. I tried to make it as interesting as possible, I would let the colours bleed to blend and create some shading. Afterwards I just let the paint run. I'm quite please with the result:

CG Artists Toolkit: Still Life 1

Base structure for our drawings today.

I followed the base and began to build on it. It started to feel like an oriental citadel type of thing.
