Adaptation Part A: Style Influence Map

I looked at fast food menu designs to reference for my infographic. I like the idea of a retro look for it so I collected a few examples.

Character: Environment sketches and influence map

To suit my mutation theme, I decided to go with the sci-fi genre for my environment. I want to use the abandoned lab my character was created in as the main environment in the game, obviously differing on each level.

I started doodling out some parts of what I want to include in the first scene/level, primarily the broken test tube. Depending on the type of art style I end up going with I'm still deciding whether or not to make the lab retro/cartoon-y or a really detailed, high tech sci-fi lab.

I also wanted to get the feel of the type of colour palette I want to work with for my environments, the green and blue combination is a favourite of mine.

I've also collected a few different sci-fi lab designs to help influence my environment.

Fantastic Voyage Visual Concept

My chosen bio-scientific scenario is the life cycle of a fern and my target audience would be secondary school students.

For this project, the type of style I want to present my final animation is an oriental shadow puppet inspired style.

Work in particular that have inspired me are; part of the opening sequence for the Japanese role-playing game Drakengard 3 and the "Tale of the Three Brothers" sequence from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 . The black on a plain, paper-textured background is very appealing to me, and if done well the whole thing looks incredibly mesmerising as the objects morph.

Cinematic Spaces: Extract 1 Influence maps

The first extract I was given from "A Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne described areas of lava encrusted walls and clusters of crystals. I automatically thought of things such as the Fire Temple from the Legend of Zelda series, a very typical image but inspired me a lot with my tumbnails. For the crystals I viewed stills from the Final Fantasy series, World or Warcraft etc.
